Prior to being reborn through the water and the spirit, I think that I had broken all of our Lord’s Commandments except for killing another human being. I have done some shameful things in the sight of our Lord. This is nothing that I am proud of but it is a part of me and my past. But through God’s grace, the offer of repentance through Jesus and His strength, I have been able to overcome these weaknesses of the flesh.

One of my favorite Bible scriptures is Romans 12:2, which states;
“And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

You hear people talk about “The Daily Walk” in Jesus but until you make the decision yourself to give your life to Christ, it doesn’t make too much sense. Let’s face it; we live in a carnal world. It is easier to live in this world than to walk with God. Our hope is in not conforming to the ways of this world but following Christ. Each day is different. Some days may be a monumental struggle in keeping your faith while others are more like a walk in the park. We all must learn to persevere each and every day, no matter what lies before us. When life gets too tough for me and I find myself getting weak, I think about Christ’s crucifixion and try to imagine just a little bit of the pain that He endured so that you and I may receive eternal life. He gave His life for us.

Jesus is here for each and every one of us. He has a plan for both you and me. I am not perfect and, to be honest, I don’t know anyone that is. My goal each day is to try and follow Romans 12:2 and renew my mind.

You hear people use the excuse that “The roof will cave in if I set foot in the Church.” Brother, if I can walk in and nothing falls down then I would say that chances are good that nothing will fall when you come to Church! When we live a sinful life, we tend to forget that our God is a loving and forgiving God. It is so easy to believe the adversary when he tells you that you are not worthy. The devil is a liar and a thief and will use any means necessary to try and prevent you from following Jesus Christ. I choose Jesus. I choose to do my best to do the will of God and follow the plan that he has for me.

Following Jesus Christ makes me a part of His army. As a soldier for Christ, I have a responsibility and duty to protect myself, my family, the Church and those around me. Think of it similar to an old western movie, where, as soldiers, we are in a fort being attacked from all sides each and every day. In order to protect ourselves, we all must do our duty like having our own place on the fort wall to defend. Any weaknesses we have, mistakes we make or lax responses to our duty could be detrimental to the entire fort. In Christ, we have each other to support us in our times of weakness or when we make mistakes. Remember, none of us are perfect.

 I hope and pray that you too have made the decision to stand beside me in this fight. Your eternal life depends on it.

God Bless You!
